As C.E.O. of Red Arrow Digital Media, Derek loves it when we call him “The Boss”. As a member of the Millbrook First Nation, we avoid calling him the “Chief Executive Officer”. An Intern did once. We sure do miss that Intern. In all seriousness, Derek brings over 25 years experience in computers, 15 years of those in the computer business, to Red Arrow Digital Media. At the age of 12 years old, he started playing with Apple IIe’s, and IBM Model 30’s. From there he developed a lifelong love of computers.
Combined with his 20 year interest of art and design, he never had a chance when it came to choosing his profession. Advertising, Marketing, Web Design, and Web Development are his hobbies. He just happens to get paid to do them.
Derek has 12 computer certifications, including the prestigious Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) designation. He has been the Technical Editor for several computer books, and still lectures part-time at a post-secondary educational institution. Derek developed, and licensed, cell phone games to 40 percent of Canada in 2002. Years before most programmers knew it was possible to do so. With his guiding hand on every project, Red Arrow Digital Media’s customers are well served by his years of experience.
Ryan is affectionately known around the office as “Number 2”, minus the eye patch and turtleneck, and he is, “as the kids say”, “The Real Deal”. After Ryan obtained 2 separate diplomas in Computer Programming and PC/Networking from colleges in Ontario and Nova Scotia, he blazed across Canada working in computers, leaving a trail of Cola bottles in his wake.
Having found his niche as a programmer, Ryan is now the Manager of Development for Red Arrow Digital Media. He is still waiting for his request of a 21 inch MAC to be approved, but somehow his paperwork always gets lost when it reaches Derek’s desk.
Ryan tolls away on every project that he oversees, because he wants to give the best product possible to every customer, big or small. He’s always trying to implement whatever impossible idea Derek wants to deliver to a client. Somehow he always manages to pull it off every time.
Jesse, the Graphic Designer of the group, tries to make the crudely drawn, crayon scribbled, ideas of Derek look pretty enough so that our clients actually want to pay their bill. After studying in Ontario and Nova Scotia, Jesse was foolhardy enough to accept an internship at Red Arrow Digital Media, a decision that he has regretted ever since.
Having been driven half crazy by Derek’s repeated phrase, “Can I see the other one again?” Jesse roams the halls of Red Arrow Digital Media, muttering to himself, dreaming of freedom from his desk, and wishing he had stayed in the “Land of Anne.”
When Jesse isn’t drinking one of his ten cups of coffee a day, he can be found pounding away on his Mac, working hard for Red Arrow Digital Media’s clients, taking seriously the fact that a client’s sale may very well depend on one of his designs.
Rod, the National Sales Manager for Red Arrow Digital Media’s Nova Scotia office, is a true man of mystery. Known in a former life as the “Red-Headed Stranger of Colchester County”, Rod has been in sales for over 20 years. Working for Prime Cut Food Services, Citibank, and Staples, Rod’s Business-to-Business expertise is the key value for Red Arrow Digital Media’s clients.
When Rod is not wining and dining Red Arrow Digital Media clients on the company dime, he can be found spending time in his “Rod Cave” that’s filled with sports memorabilia, most of it belonging to the Chicago Bears. So you know he can appreciate a good joke.
As the point man for our Nova Scotia office, Rod informs our clients of the proper services they need to get the results they're looking for. Under his supervision, Rod has a led sales team to over 1 Billion dollars in sales in 2010 alone. Red Arrow Digital Media clients know that their marketing investment is well spent under his advice.
